Welcome to my online portfolio! My name is Drew and I design artwork for print and web advertising. My portfolio is pretty simple as is my design style. To see a few pieces of my work, click work. My contact info is below; email or call me if you interested in working with me. Pricing is fair and varies depending on the project.

MY APPROACH
Artistically I enjoy creating large graphics with relevant themes. As far as the message, I like straight to the point with no filler. In advertising, there is a delicate balance between saying what you need to and saying too much. The average American is exposed to about 3000 advertisements a day, (www.ucsusa.org) most of which they probably don't even notice. The reality is advertisements are annoying, and after years of being bombarded by them, people have developed an ability to subconsciously tune them out. Promising the lowest price, best guarantee, or fastest service are useless weapons of marketing when all your competitors are promising the same thing. The truth is you can say whatever you want in your advertising but making people read it and believe it is another thing. My approach to advertising is focusing on standing out. Not only standing out among your competitors...but among the other advertisements. If you're not catching peoples attention and making them think about your company, you're wasting your money.

ABOUT ME
I was born in Daytona Beach, FL. I went to high school in Flagler Beach and I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee from 2003 to 2007. I graduated with a BA in Classical Civilizations which I am doing nothing with. I feel like I need to be the center of attention in social situations but I also have bad social anxiety so my personality can be quite conflicting with itself. My interests are design, history and fishing. I currently live in a renovated 1923 craftsman bungalow in Downtown Daytona Beach with my girlfriend Natali. I am back and forth between my house in Daytona and Winter Park where I am attending Full Sail University to get a degree in Digital Art & Design. I plan on using this one.

Bi-fold, three panel brochure for the New-Urban Development in Daytona Beach, the WC Grand. The developers, White Challis Redevelopment Company, commisioned this piece after I created their company brochure which was also a bi-fold, three panel design. They asked for a family-freindly, retro 50's look that creatively high-lighted the amenities of the project.
Poster design for the Daytona Beach Partnership Association. This was one of many versions created for their monthly "Art, Food, Wine and Music" street event held in Downtown Daytona Beach. The DBPA wanted a fun urban, look with clean lines. I chose a look centered around creative typography, and simple solid colors.
Bi-fold, three panel brochure for White Challis Redevelopment Company. They wanted a vintage 1920's victorian theme. The brochure was also to be mailed out, so the cover was designed to resemble a vintage "greetings from" postcard to catch the attention of it's recipient.
Poster design for Daytona Beach Partnership Association. This was their downtown BBQ event, "Beach Street BBQ." This closed street event was a fun, family-freindly event that featured contests, prizes, and kids activities as well as massive amounts of BBQ. I wanted the poster to be something simple that jumped out at people but also illustrated the fun-in-the-sun aspect of the event.
Mailer card for Jon Hall Hyundai. This is one of many I did for Jon Hall, all of which I was requested to incorporate a vintage look with large titling. For this event he wanted a mailer that showed a blue and white tent while keeping with the same vintage look. This image was pieced together from 5 or 6 different vintage postcards and advertisements.
Poster design for Daytona Beach Partnership Association. This event was a Jazz festival held on the streets of Downtown Daytona. The DBPA wanted a design with clean lines that stuck to the colors black, white and red. I wanted a large graphic element to pop out and creatively illustrate the jazz/musical theme.
Daytona Beach Proud was a campaign championed by Mayor Glenn Ritchey. The goal was to instill a sense of pride for DB in citizens. I was told to create something that incorporated Daytona Beach history while sticking to a hip/young look.
Poster design for the Daytona Beach Partnership Association. This was a street event that featured different dance styles in different locations around Downtown Daytona. I was told to create something with clean lines and stick to the colors black, white and red. I came up with a West Side Story theme. I took a popular scene and created large graphic elements and designed the title to resemble the tile of the movie.
Another logo/identity design for Daytona Beach Proud. Again I was told to create something that incorporated both Daytona's history while sticking to a hip/young design. This is a large graphic illustration of the "Bluebird" that broke the speed record in Daytona in 1931.
Poster design for Sugarfree Redbull. My friend was asked to create a mock advertisement for a real company for a job. To help her, I created this one for Sugarfree Redbull so she could use it.
White Space Studios and Gallery was a short lived art studio for artists who needed workspace. Each artist had his/her own studio plus wall space so weekly gallery tours could be given to show off the work of all the artists. Design criteria was something hip with clean lines. I designed this to highlight "white space" in the design while typographically listing artistically associated words.
Poster design for Pandora's 2009 poster design contest. Pandora asked for something that creatively illustrated Pandora sharing music across America. I must have took that too literally or something cause I didn't win, and the one that did totally had nothing to do with that.
Logo/identity design for Downtown Daytona Beach's chalk walk. This event featured artists from around the Daytona Beach area creating historic scenes of Daytona on the sidewalk with chalk. This was one of my very first designs but I think it is a clever design that shows a chunk of sidewalk as a canvas on an easel with the name partly etched and partly written in chalk.
Logo/identity for Daytona Beach's Downtown farmer's market. My design criteria was to create something fun and iconic. I chose a large pineapple with the downtown skyline illustration in the background.
Florida Green Consulting design for front side of their business card. They asked me to create an identity for them that was hip with clean lines. I created their logo and wanted their business card to really showcase it. To add an extra design element I set a silhouetted treeline in white on top of a green gradient. Simple and bold to stand out among other green building consultants.
